Library! at Collister Computer Classes
Find an upcoming class time on our calendar. Registration for all classes is required. To sign up, stop by the library or call 562-4995. Computer Basics 1 This class is designed for people new to computers. It focuses on basic computer functions and terminology, using the mouse, and getting around in the Windows environment. Computer Basics 2 Building on the material from Computer Basics 1, this hands-on class introduces students to additional concepts and skills for basic computer proficiency, including working with files and folders, customizing Windows, staying secure, and maintaining your computer. Intro to Productivity Software This class will introduce you to some of the essential software applications for getting things done, either at home or the office. We’ll cover Microsoft Office and online alternatives, and we’ll point you to some great—and free!—tutorials to help you build your skills and enhance your resume. The Online Marketplace Come learn about some of the myriad ways to buy, sell, barter, and trade (and even find free stuff!) online. We'll walk you through the basics of sites like Craigslist, eBay, and more. Digital Camera Basics Digital cameras can create high quality images that can be e-mailed, used in fliers, or printed, even at home. And operating a digital camera can be quite simple, if you have a few tricks up your sleeve. Computer Security Basics Are you concerned about how to keep your data secure and how to be safe online? If not, you should be! If you are, then this is the class for you. We'll discuss how to assess and minimize security risks when working with computers and the internet. Online Communication Tools Are you interested in exploring new ways to keep up with family, friends, and colleagues online? Do you feel somewhat bewildered by the proliferation of communication tools and terms online? Do you want some practical tips for staying on top of all that communication? If the answer is yes, then this class is for you! Sign up for one-on-one instruction! Volunteer technology coaches at the Library! at Collister provide free one-on-one computer
help. Sessions last one hour, and coaches can help you with a variety of computer tasks and questions, including
