Computer Classes at the Main Library  July 2008

Computer Basics - Part 1:

This class is for the computer novice. We will cover basic computer parts (monitor, CPU, storage devices), as well as how to use the keyboard and mouse.  We will practice using the mouse and keyboard.

Students should have:

  • No prerequisite skills

Computer Basics - Part 2:

This class will look at basic features of the Windows environment, including using the Start menu, desktop setup, Windows features, and saving files.

Students should have:

  • Basic familiarity with concepts covered in Part 1
  • Beginning mouse and keyboard skills 

Internet Basics

Students will get a basic overview of Internet concepts and web browser features.  We will practice some basic web browsing.

Students must have:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Mousing and keyboarding skills
  • Familiarity with the Windows environment (operating system) and features

Internet Search Skills

Learn about search engines and search techniques to help you use the Internet effectively. Will include hands on searching.

Students must have:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Mousing and keyboarding skills
  • Familiarity with the Windows environment (operating system) and features
  • Basic understanding of the Internet and use of a web browser.

Microsoft Word Basics

Learn the basic MS Word features. Create and format a document.

Students must have:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Mousing and keyboarding skills
  • Familiarity with the Windows environment (operating system) and features
