Homebound
Library staff and volunteers regularly take library materials to homebound persons in Boise retirement apartments, nursing homes, and individual residences. Materials that may be borrowed include: large print, hardback and paperback books, recorded books, music and movies. Choose from biographies, mysteries, westerns, romance, bestsellers and nonfiction. You may also want to see Resources for the Visually Impaired. This service is provided without charge to residents of Boise City who are physically unable to come to Boise Public Library locations or to the Bookmobile. In addition, participants must have no other means of receiving library service (such as delivery through family members or friends). To find out whether you, a friend or family member are eligible, call 562-4002 to arrange a staff visit. (TDD/TTY 1-800-377-3529) Volunteers bring books to the home once a month and pick up the books that are due. During the first visit, a library staff member will discuss your reading preferences in order to plan future selections. Subsequent requests are made through the volunteer visitor or by calling the library. Would you like to be a Homebound Services volunteer? You may visit someone you already know who needs the service, or the
Library can match you with someone in your area. Volunteers visit
individual homes once a month.
