2012 Spring Booksale: April 12-15
|
| How Booksales Benefit the Library | General Booksale Information | Friends Bookstore |
Each year, the Friends organization raises over $100,000 to benefit the library, all through booksales and the Friends Bookstore in the library. In recent years, funds raised by the Friends purchased opening-day collections for the new Collister and Hillcrest libraries and a generous portion of the opening-day collection for the Cole & Ustick library, as well as supporting selected library programs. All preparation for and staffing of the sales is provided by volunteers, who typically sort through about 100,000 items to prepare for a sale. Besides the spring and fall booksales, the Friends also have a regular ongoing booksale and a bookstore at the Main Library.
The Friends of Boise Public Library hold two very successful annual booksales to benefit the library. The spring sale is usually held the first weekend of April,
and usually includes a special price for books-by-the-bag. The
next spring booksale is scheduled for April 12-15, 2012, with a preview
sale for members on April 11.
The fall sale is usually held the last weekend of October in the Main Library's Hayes Auditorium, and includes better-quality books for gift giving.
While sale inventory varies, it usually includes pocket & trade paperback books from all genres, sets of books, computer books & software, classics, kids books, coffee table books, cookbooks, retired library hardback best sellers and Oprah book club selections, as well as limited videos and music.
