Thank your for your interest in volunteering for Boise Public Library.  Please note, in order for an application to be considered, potential volunteers:

  1. Must be over 14 years of age.
  2. Must be willing to have a background check and be fingerprinted—actual requirements will depend on the specific volunteer position.
  3. Must be willing to volunteer a minimum of 2-3 hours per week, unless already cleared with the Volunteer coordinator at the division/branch where you wish to volunteer.

Library Staff:  Potential volunteers who are also paid employees of Boise Public Library may not perform services or duties that are similar to those performed in their paid position.  If you are interested in a volunteer position, your immediate supervisor AND the supervisor of the division or branch location where you wish to volunteer must confirm that there will be no duplication of services or duties between the two positions.

Requirements

Must be over 14 years of age.

3-4 hours a week, 6 month commitment.

Volunteer Duties Description
Collection maintenance: replacing barcodes and jackets, the physical mending of books, discarding of damaged books, assisting with the polishing of AV materials and the assisting with the bindery process.

Collection development: stamping, barcoding, jacketing and taping of new books, processing of AV materials and assisting with the receiving of new materials.

Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hours needed:  Monday p.m., Tuesday p.m., Wednesday a.m. & p.m., Thursday a.m. & p.m., and Friday a.m.
