Get a Library Card
Boise residents and those who own property within the
Boise city limits qualify for free Boise Public Library
cards. You can apply in person at any Boise Public Library
location or apply online with our Web Registration service.
Choose a Card Design
Boise residents can choose from
seven designs when they get a new library card or trade-in an old one.
Apply Online - It's Easy!
- Go to
the Online Library Card
Application and fill out the information.
- Visit a Boise Public Library
location to activate your card number. You must activate
it BEFORE you can do any online transactions.
- To receive your permanent library card bring in two forms of
identification: photo ID and
proof of your current address. If you are under 18, a parent
or legal guardian will need to be present to approve your application
and show photo identification and proof of current address.

- Visit any Boise Public Library
location.
- Fill out application (Print
one* or pick one up at the library)
- Show 2 forms of identification: photo ID and proof
of your current address.

Update Your Library Card Information
- Log into
My Account
- Click on the "Profile" tab.
- You can now update your email address or PIN (Personal Identification
Number).
- You must come into the Library to update your name, address or phone
number.
Visitor, Non-Resident and Corporate/Business Library Cards
- Visitors who do not have a permanent address, but
who are living within the Boise city limits, may receive
a temporary library card valid for a period of two
months. The fee is $50, of which $45 will be refunded to
you when you have returned your cards, cleared your
account, and terminated your membership.
- Nonresident cards are available to persons who
reside outside of the City of Boise but are able to
visit Boise Public Library locations in person. The fee
is $69.30 per year. Students in the Boise School
District may receive a nonresident
card for $17.33 per year. Senior citizens (62 and older)
qualify for the same rate.
- Businesses in the Boise City limits who need access
to the Library's resources and Interlibrary loan service
for work-related projects may apply for a
BusinessLink
library card.

- Bring the application to the downtown Library.
This must be done by the responsible party who signs
the application. They must bring business
identification showing their affiliation with the
company (letterhead, business card, ID card with
their name).
Where You Can Use Your Card
The
Treasure Valley Open Access Agreement
provides for reciprocal services among eleven library
locations in the Treasure Valley.
