June 4 Realistic
Drawing
We will look at a book
that features simple drawings. Using Mona Brooks, “Drawing with
Children,” instructor will take students through several drawing warm-up
exercises. These exercises help students practice careful observation
and hand-eye coordination. The main project is a guided drawing
exercise.
June
11 Collage
We will look at three
picture books that use collage for illustrations and discuss various
materials that could be used for collage. Students will create a
collage from materials supplied.
June 18
Puppets
Instructor will use
puppets to tell a simple story. Students will make their own puppet
from materials supplied. If time, we will practice using puppets to
tell stories.
June 25 Japanese
crafts
Instructors will introduce the elements of Japanese culture that form
the basis for crafts. Students will create 1-3 items.
July 2
Choreography(Capital City Youth
Ballet)
CCYB dancers will demonstrate original choreography developed
during their summer studies, and briefly introduce elements of classical
ballet, modern dance, and jazz. Students will be assisted in
choreographing an original dance piece.
July 9 Cartoon

exercise.
July 16 Boise Hawks
visit the Library! (Hawks and friends)
Several members of the Hawks baseball team will headline the
program. The players will read aloud, with dramatic flair — of course—
and then answer questions. There will be time for autographs and
perhaps a few surprises from the Hawks.
July 23
Drama (Boise Public Library’s teen
group)
The intrepid Teen Advisory Board
members plan some dramatic fun for this program. They will perform a
skit, and then work with students to create original skits on the spot.
July 30 Basque Dance
(Lisa Norton, Basque folkdance instructor)
Lisa will help students
learn the essentials of this traditional style of dancing. She has
extensive experience teaching children Basque dancing.
