Standing in children's area (northwest corner), looking directly south.
Standing near front door, looking towards rear (north) of library.
Looking towards entrance from main area.
Installing HVAC (heating/cooling) system near meeting rooms.
The framing on the left half of the photo is staff area; the framing on the right half is for restrooms.
This framing is for the large AV-equipped meeting room (seats 36) and the small AV-equipped meeting room (seats 10). Note the "cut-off" area of framing at the far left of the photo - the smaller meeting room will include a large floor-to-ceiling window.
The framing on the near left is for the restrooms; at far left and back are the staff workrooms and shipping and receiving areas. The circular framing at the top of the photo (soffit framing) is for the dropped ceiling at the entrance, which will mirror the ceiling height in the canopied area outside the library. Beyond the entrance area, the ceiling steps up to create a more spacious, light-filled space.
This shot is taken from the other side of the soffit framing (see previous photo), looking towards the entrance to the library. On the left, the long narrow space extending beyond the entrance is the living room /reading area, which will include comfortable seating, magazines and newspapers, and a coffee vending machine.

Oct. 9 Wallbreaking Ceremony
The big grins you see are what happens when a mayor and a library director have the opportunity to bash drywall with giant golden sledgehammers.
Bonnie Longstreth, booksale chair for the Friends of Boise Public Library, takes a turn.
Hard hats and sledgehammers are a hit for all ages...
...and both genders.
The hammers and the untouched wall, before The Big Smash.
The former "pit" in the old Michael's Restaurant - a popular hangout for the neighborhood.
A bowful of gummy carpenter tools was a hit at both wallbreaking ceremonies!
Council members Eberle, Shealy and Jordan take a swing.
Theron, who heads library maintenance, painted and labeled the "golden" sledgehammers used in the wallbreaking ceremonies. Nice job, Theron!
The occasion was the official kickoff of construction at the Hillcrest Neighborhood Library on Oct. 9. Members of the Boise City Council, Library Board, Library Foundation, Friends of the Library and neighborhood associations all took turns reducing gypsum board into dust, the symbolic first step in transforming the vacant Hillcrest Shopping Center space into a new, 8,400-square-foot, full-service library.
The Friends donated $115,000 towards the Hillcrest library's opening day collection.
