a circle of cultures:  the Boise Lewis & Clark experience

A Circle of Cultures: The Boise Lewis & Clark Experience is the theme of a ten-day event being held May 20-29, 2006, at the tennis court site in Julia Davis Park in Boise.  Events include nationally recognized speakers, exhibits, music and historic re-enactments.

Programs are sponsored by the Cultural Network (an association of area libraries, museums and educational organizations), the City of Boise, the Idaho Governor's Lewis and Clark Trail Committee and the National Park Service.

A CIRCLE OF CULTURES:  Exhibits, hours, parking and more

Circle of Cultures events will surround the National Park Service’s national touring Lewis and Clark exhibit entitled Corps of Discovery II: 200 Years to the Future (Tent of Many Voices).

  • Its FREE programs include a colorful exhibit tent, 200-seat multimedia-ready auditorium, scaled keelboat, 28-foot dugout canoe and a 16-foot diameter Indian lodge or tipi, all staffed by trained interpretive specialists.

  • Near the Corps II exhibition at the tennis courts are several other FREE interactive exhibits and programs, sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  The Hog Heaven Muzzleloaders, an authentic group of expedition re-enactors, will be encamped there as well.

  • Special Lewis and Clark related exhibits and presentations are also featured at the museums and public library surrounding Julia Davis Park.  (Note: Regular admission fees will be charged at all museums.)

HOURS: Daily hours for all exhibit tents on weekdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Friday, the NPS Corps II Tent of Many Voices will be also be open 7 to 9 p.m.  See daily event schedule for weekend hours.

IMPORTANT: School children are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at all free exhibit tents, except Tuesday and Thursday, when they are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The BLM and Fish and Wildlife hands-on exhibits, the Hog Heaven Muzzleloaders, and most Corps of Discovery exhibits and re-enactor stations will be full.
