Booe Named Interim Director of Boise Public Library

The Boise Public Library Board of Trustees today named Kevin Booe as interim director of the Boise Public Library. Booe replaces Stephen Cottrell who resigned today after two years of dedicated service to pursue other interests.

Stephen Cottrell was hired by the Board of Trustees as director in April 2004. “Steve accomplished many positive things during his time with the City of Boise,” said Martie Brennan, Vice President of the Library Board. “We thank Steve for his service to the citizens of Boise and his contributions to our library, and we wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.”

Kevin Booe has served as assistant director of the Boise Public Library since 1998. A graduate of Boise State University with a degree in Communication and Public Affairs, Booe has worked at the Boise Public Library 26 years. Booe has worked on the library’s master facility planning since 1998 and was instrumental in developing the branch library proposal currently under public review.

During fiscal year 2006, Boise Public Library facilities received on average 3,300 patron visits each day. Under Booe’s leadership, the Library will continue its commitment to establish branch libraries in Boise.

The branches would serve residents of the east, west, central bench and northwest areas of Boise. All four libraries are proposed as full-service branches. Services could include adult and children’s programs, community meeting space, computers and Internet access, books, movies, magazines and newspapers, online resources, homework help and information and reference services.
