FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
Friends Sale
Grosses $28,600 to Support Library
(Boise, Idaho – 4/12/06)
The Friends of the Boise Public Library announced today that their
Annual Spring Book Sale grossed $28,600. The sale, held this past
weekend in the warehouse behind the downtown library, is one of two
annual book sales conducted by the Friends to raise funds for future
branch library needs.
Last year, the Friends
organization raised almost $103,000 towards future branch collections.
The money comes from annual spring and fall book sales, as well as the
ongoing Friends sale and Friends Book Store at the downtown library. In
preparation for the 2006 spring sale, volunteers sorted through about
80,000 items -- roughly 80% donated by individuals and organizations.
Most of the remaining 20% were materials retired from the library’s
collection.
The Friends of the Boise
Public Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization founded to promote
the interest and welfare of the library. To learn more about donating
