Booe Named Director of Library
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Boise - February 15, 2007) The Boise Public Library Board of Trustees named Kevin Booe as director of Boise Public Library last week. Booe will officially assume his new title on March 1. The Board’s decision was announced at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 14. "Kevin Booe is an asset to our community and to the Library,” said David Bieter, Mayor of Boise. “We are pleased the Library board has made this decision. As we move forward with neighborhood and storefront libraries in the City of Boise, Kevin will continue to play an integral role in this critically important venture." According to Jim Thompson, President of the Library Board, the Trustees were delighted that Booe was willing to take on the director's position at this crucial stage in the Library’s history, as it evolves into a system with multiple branches taking library services to neighborhoods. Booe has served as the library’s interim director since November 2006, and as assistant director since 1998. A graduate of Boise State University, Booe brings 26 years of library experience to his new position. He has worked on the library’s master facility planning since 1998 and was instrumental in developing the branch library proposal currently under public review. Under Booe’s leadership, the Library will continue its commitment to establish full-service branch libraries in Boise. The branches will serve residents of the east, west, central bench and northwest areas of Boise. Each library will offer adult and children’s programs, community meeting space, computers and Internet access, books, movies, magazines and newspapers, online resources, homework help and information and reference services. # # # Contact: |
