FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE–

Library Announces Book Lovers Story Project

(Boise, Idaho – March 21, 2007)  Boise Public Library is asking readers of all ages to talk to each other about books they’ve loved, then to capture it in words and pictures.  The project was created in honor of this year’s National Library Week celebration, April 15-21.  The 2007 theme is Come Together @ your library!

To participate, readers should ask someone who is at least 10 years older or younger about  “a book you loved.”  Then, using words, pictures or drawings, interviewers are asked to capture their impressions on one side of one piece of legal- or letter-size paper, and attach it to an entry form.  Entries will be accepted at the downtown library through Friday, April 13.

Story Project Reception, Exhibit and Program

Participants and other book lovers are invited to a Story Project Reception at the library on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. The evening will include a short program, followed by an opportunity to enjoy each other’s Story Project entries and win book-related prizes.  Entries will be exhibited in the library’s auditorium from Wednesday, April 18, through Sunday, April 22.

A second program combining books and art is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.  Award-winning children’s artist and author Jane Breskin Zalben will discuss bookmaking and her book, Paths to Peace: People Who Changed the World.  The book profiles 16 individuals who worked to improve conditions for others, including Eleanor Roosevelt, Anne Frank, Dr. Wahgari Maathai and Mother Teresa. Each profile is complemented by a mixed-media collage, combining paintings and watercolor with paper, fabric, stamps, and newspaper clippings from around the world.

The Book Lovers Story Project is open to all ages.  Participants can pick up an entry form at the library, or print one from the library’s website, www.boisepubliclibrary.org.   Entries may be turned in at any library service desk, or mailed to: Book Lovers Story Project, Boise Public Library, 715 South Capitol Blvd., Boise, ID 83702.  For more information, call 384-4076 or 384-4200.
