FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
Enjoy eAudiobooks Anytime, Anywhere – for Free!
(Boise, ID – October 23, 2007) Want to make your exercise routine or that daily commute just fly by? Download a book! Now Boise Public Library cardholders can download free audio books to most Windows® computers. To get started go to www.boisepubliclibrary.org, click on “eCollections” and then select “eAudiobooks.”
The Library has over 2,700 eAudiobook titles from two services – OverDrive and NetLibrary. Each service offers a different array of choices – bestsellers, classics, fiction and nonfiction for adults, teens, and children. New titles are added regularly. OverDrive is funded by Boise Public Library and NetLibrary is provided by the Idaho Commission for Libraries through the LiLI project www.lili.org.
After Boise Public Library cardholder George Targee used OverDrive eAudiobooks for the first time, he said, "We just returned from a trip to Montana. The Overdrive product worked really well, is easy to use and the convenience is wonderful."
Downloaded books expire automatically, so late fees are never a problem. Users can place holds on titles that are already checked out and receive an email when they’re available. And, of course, the books can be downloaded 24/7.
Many of the selections can be burned to CDs or transferred to compatible devices like MP3 players, laptops, Pocket PCs, and Palm OS devices, depending on the title’s digital rights. Due to limited bandwidth, the service is not available on the Library’s public computers. Apple products are not compatible.
For more information or to download a book, visit www.boisepubliclibrary.org.
