Friends Raised $33,000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
$33,000 Raised to Benefit Future Libraries
(Boise, Idaho – 4/17/07) The Friends of the Boise Public Library announced today that its Annual Spring Booksale set a new record for the event, grossing over $33,000. The sale, held this past weekend in the warehouse behind the downtown library, is one of two annual booksales conducted by the Friends to raise funds for future branch library needs.
Last year, the Friends organization raised over $103,000 towards future branch collections. The money comes from annual spring and fall book sales, as well as the Friends Book Store at the downtown library. In preparation for the 2007 spring sale, volunteers sorted through about 100,000 items -- roughly 85% donated by individuals and organizations. Most of the remaining 15% were materials retired from the library’s collection.
The Friends of the Boise Public Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization founded to promote the interest and welfare of the library. To learn more about donating books or joining the Friends organization, call 384-4238, or visit the library web page.
