 Library Hires New Branch & Public Services Managers

(Boise, Idaho – 12/13/07)   Boise Public Library recently filled three new manager positions.  The new positions are part of the library’s planned evolution from a single library today to a library system with four branches by the end of the decade.

William Nation, the library’s new Public Services Manager, is responsible for the overall operation of the Main Library in downtown Boise, including oversight of an operating budget of $5,000,000.  He will focus on implementation of innovative customer services, and on the day-to-day operations of the facility and its 112 employees.

Before coming to Boise, Nation was a Library Manager in North Carolina at one of the 24 branches of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County (PLCMC).  At PLCMC, he led initiatives to expand services to book clubs, develop instant messaging reference service, create new technology workshops, and mentor student employees.    

Jillian Subach will head-up the new Library! at Collister, a full-service neighborhood library opening in January in the Collister Shopping Center in Boise.  Diane Broom will head-up the new Library! at Hillcrest, opening in February in the Hillcrest Shopping Center.  As branch managers, Subach and Broom will oversee staffs of 14 and operating budgets of approximately $750,000. 

Subach previously served as Youth Services manager at Meridian Library District in Meridian, and as the Program Coordinator for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, a system of 41 libraries in the Cincinnati area.   Broom has been a children’s librarian at Boise Public Library for the past 20 years.  She previously managed and operated a local bookstore and was manager of the Youth Services division at Nampa Public Library.
