Hillcrest Library to Open in Late March
Boise Public Library 208-384-4372
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Hillcrest Library Grand Opening Scheduled for 3/26
Mayor David Bieter and the Boise Public Library Board of Trustees announce the grand opening of Boise’s second neighborhood branch library, the Library! at Hillcrest. The public is invited to attend. The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the library’s entrance at 5246 West Overland Road. The library is located in Boise’s Central Bench area in the Hillcrest Shopping Center at Overland and Orchard. “The new Hillcrest library is one more example of our commitment to deliver city services at the neighborhood level,” said Mayor Bieter. “With this facility, we're creating a focal point for neighborhood activities while also contributing to the economic revitalization of the area.” Mayor Bieter and Library Board Vice-President Martie Brennan will wield a pair of 36-inch giant scissors as they cut the ribbon and officially open the library. Hillcrest is the second of three full-service libraries the City of Boise will open over the next year and a half. The facilities will offer surrounding neighborhoods the use of library computers, Internet access, reference services and programs, plus books, movies and music. The opening of the Library! at Hillcrest was preceded last month by a grand opening for the Library! at Collister, located in the Collister Shopping Center and serving Northwest Boise. The City will break ground this spring on a third library in West Boise at Cole and Ustick, opening in 2009. A fourth library planned for Southeast Boise is expected to open in 2010.
