FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Wow! New Library Card DesignsGoldfish, Tiger, Keepsies and More
(Boise, Idaho – 01/15/08) Boise Public Library just introduced a series of new library cards that live up to the promise of that exclamation mark in “Library!” The seven card designs include a graphic novel-style character named Paige Turner, a Zoo Boise tiger and the Keepsies sculpture of children playing marbles, located in the Grove in downtown Boise.
Each design shows the central character with the library’s new brand – the word “Library!” enclosed in a thought bubble. The brand graphic will also be showing up in the library’s publicity materials and in signage for two new neighborhood libraries opening in early 2008.
The new brand and the library card concept and designs were developed by Foerstel Design. The local graphic design firm donated much of its creative work for the project. “We loved working on this project,” said owner Tom Foerstel. “It was an opportunity to immerse ourselves in pure creativity to enhance the image of a great organization!”
The original exclamation mark on the downtown library signs was the brainchild of Howard Olivier, who also sponsored the addition of the punctuation to the signage. Olivier is a longtime library supporter, former Library Board member, and the owner of Flying Pie Pizzaria.
Boise residents can choose any of the new designs when they get a library card. Residents who already have a Boise Public Library card may switch to the new design at no cost, or may keep their current cards.
To see the new designs, which also include a goldfish, Shakespeare, Stonehenge and a bridge of books, visit the library’s website at www.boisepubliclibrary.org.
