Towne Square Library to Close

New Libraries Prompt Reconfiguration of Existing Facilities

(Boise, Idaho – 2/7/2008)  Boise Public Library announced it will be closing its small Towne Square Library operation, effective March 1, 2008. The library was removed from sites available to customers for picking up reserved materials at the beginning of February.  The last open day for the facility will be February 29.

With three new full-service branches coming in 2008 and 2009, Boise Public Library’s Board of Trustees chose not to renew the lease for the small facility, which operates primarily as a reading library.  The lease expired at the end of January. 

Users of the Towne Square location are encouraged to check out the Library! at Hillcrest, opening in mid-March in the Hillcrest Shopping Center at Overland and Orchard.  The full-service branch library will offer computers, Internet access, reference, programs, books, movies and music.

The Hillcrest opening will be preceded by another full-service branch, the Library! at Collister, which opens this month in the Collister Shopping Center.  A third library in West Boise is scheduled to open at Cole and Ustick in 2009.
