More downloads AND streaming!
Now, with your Boise Public Library card, you can stream up to three hours of music every day, and download up to five songs each week from our Freegal Music service!
To get started, just click here and enter your Boise Public Library card number and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).
- After you've signed in, you’ll see counters in the upper right corner of the Freegal page to help you keep track of your usage.
- To stream, or to sample a piece of music, move your cursor over the desired song or album, and click on the "stream now" button. Just click the pause button to stop. If you click “stream now” on an album, the entire album will play in order.
Choose from thousands of artists, tens of thousands of albums, and hundreds of thousands of songs in the vast Sony music collection and other licensed labels for your personal use.* Song tracks are downloaded directly from your browser as MP3 files. There are iOS and Android apps, or files can be saved to any computer or mobile device, including iPods. Short clips are available for sampling prior to selecting your music.
Thanks to Freegal’s arrangements with participating labels, there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.* So, once you download the songs, they're yours to keep!
Questions? See if the answer is listed here, or ask a librarian. Or see more FAQs on the Freegal site.
*Note that other copyright laws apply. The participating music labels have authorized customers of libraries subscribing to Freegal to download copies of the music for personal use. However, sharing the music file with others (for instance, by giving them a CD, emailing the file or making it available online or via a file-sharing network) - would likely violate copyright law.
