2015 Hat Trick Reading Program
Earn Hockey Tickets, a Cap & a Free Skate!
Ages 5-13; Entry Deadline is Feb. 21
Kids can earn prizes by scoring three goals in this year's Hat Trick Reading Program, sponsored by the Idaho Steelheads, CenturyLink and the Idaho Statesman in partnership with local public libraries. In hockey, scoring three goals is known as a hat trick.
How It Works
First, pick up a Hat Trick Reading Program entry form from a participating public library, including Ada Community libraries and the public libraries of Boise, Meridian, Kuna, Caldwell and Nampa.
1: Win a ticket to an Idaho Steelheads game just by checking out a book from your participating library. Be sure to get your form stamped when you check it out.
2: Win another ticket by reading with a family member for 20 minutes for 7 days. Make sure a parent initials the reading boxes on your form.
3. Complete your "hat trick" and win an Idaho Steelheads cap by writing a 100-word essay or drawing a picture about the Idaho Steelheads Hockey team. Include your name on the essay or picture, and attach it to the entry form. You may read about the Steelheads at http://www.idahosteelheads.com/home.aspx.
To claim your prizes, bring your completed form to the library by Friday, February 21. For more information, please call 384-4200.
Bonus: Free Open Skate on February 8
You're invited to a free open skate at CenturyLink Arena on Sunday, February 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Kids are encouraged to bring their own skates. Limited free skates will be available for those who do not have their own.
