Preparing for the Transition to Digital
Television
On February 19, 2009 full-power
television stations nationwide must stop
transmitting analog TV signals and
begin broadcasting exclusively in digital
format.
Quick Overview about the (DTV)
Transition
Who’s Affected?
Viewers with older antenna television
sets that are not hooked up to a cable,
satellite or a pay TV service will need to
upgrade by February 17, 2009.
Three Ways to Transition to Digital TV
- Switch to a cable, satellite or
telephone company television service
provider, in which case analog sets will
continue to function;
- Purchase a new TV set with a
built-in digital tuner; or
- Purchase a DTV converter box that
will convert the new digital signal into
the old format for an existing analog
television set.
