Library Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteeting for Boise Public Library. Please note, in order for an application to be considered, potential volunteers:

Must be over 14 years of age.

Must be willing to volunteer a minimum of 2-3 hours per week, unless already cleared with the volunteer coordinator at the division/branch where you wish to volunteer.

You will be required to review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook and sign a volunteer waiver prior to placement. Some volunteer positions are sensitive in nature and/or involve working closely with at risk populations, and may require you to undergo a criminal history background.

For more information about the volunteer process, please review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook (PDF). Click here for a list of current volunteer opportunities.

Other Volunteer Resources
See more volunteer opportunities on the City of Boise website under "Get Involved." Under "Volunteer," you can find more volunteer opportunities for other City of Boise departments. In addition to Boise Public Library, a few other examples of City of Boise departments that might have open volunteer opportunities would be: Zoo Boise, Boise Police and Parks and Recreation.

Be a Friends Volunteer

FriendsLogo.pngMembers of the Friends and other volunteers staff the Friends Bookstore at the Main Library, process materials for book sales, staff the annual spring and fall book sales, and help with other activities as needed.  Your gift of time helps the Friends raise funds to support opening-day collections in new branch libraries and many special programs and projects.
