Community Resources

The Boise Public Library partners with organizations throughout the Treasure Valley to provide free programs and resources to community members needing additional support. We currently offer the following on-going programs:

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Wednesdays, 12-4 p.m.,  Main Library 
Trained volunteers from Boise State University’s Accountancy Department provide free tax assistance to community members making $55,000 a year or less through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. 

Medicare 101 Workshop
3rd Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m., Main Library

Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) volunteers offer help navigating Medicare benefits, provide information on how and when to enroll and answer questions.

Veterans Housing Outreach
Wednesdays, 2-3:30 p.m., Main Library
Bryan Bumgarner, with Healthcare for Homeless Veterans from the Boise VA Medical Center, helps connect Veterans with essential services including housing and medical care.

Free Law Clinics
2nd and 4th Mondays, Main Library
Volunteer law students and on-site supervising attorneys offer short-term legal advice and one-on-one assistance to those who cannot afford legal representation. Services are provided by the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association in partnership with Concordia University School of Law, and the University of Idaho.
