Computer Appointments

Limited computer access is available by appointment only at the Main Library, Monday – Saturday from 10am-2pm.  Library staff will wear masks and gloves and practice social distancing.  Equipment will be cleaned between each 45-minute session.  Hours and locations may be expanded in future weeks.

When will customers be able to access library computers? 
Computers will be accessible by appointment only, Monday - Saturday, from 10am - 2pm. 

Which Boise Public Library locations will have computers available? 
During Stage 3, computers will only be available at the Main Library (715 S. Capitol Blvd.) 

How do customers make an appointment to use the computers? 
There are two ways to make an appointment. Customers can go to to make an appointment, or call 208-972-8200 and speak to a library staff member. 

Where are the computers located in the library? 
The public access computers are located in the William F. Hayes Memorial Auditorium.  

How will customers enter the building for their appointments? 
Customers who have an appointment will need to wait outside the back door to the Hayes Auditorium (8th Street side of the building). When it’s time for their appointment, a staff member will call their name and allow them access to the building. 

Can customers use the computers as they would normally, or is use restricted in any way? 
We prefer computer access at this time to be used for priority needs, such as: job search, filing for unemployment benefits, maintaining email contact with friends and family, business needs, etc. 

How long will each computer session last? 
Each session will be 45 minutes long. 

What precautions are library staff taking to protect against COVID-19? 
Library staff will wear PPE at all times and will clean each computer station between each session. 

If a customer doesn’t have an appointment, will they be able to access the computers at the library? 
MaybeCustomers who make an appointment will be allowed access to the computer lab first. If a computer session isn’t full, a limited number of walk-ins will be accepted, based on available space, on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage customers interested in using the computer lab to make an appointment in order to guarantee a spot. 

How many appointments can a customer make per day? 
Customers can use one computer appointment per day. 

Will customers be required to wear masks? 
Yes. Masks must be worn at all times by both staff and customers. 

Will protective equipment be provided? 
Yes, for those who don’t have their own protective equipment, a mask will be provided free of charge. Gloves will be provided upon request.

Will customers need to have a library card in order to access the computers? 
No, a library card is not required to access the computers. 

What services will be available during Stage 3? 
Both printing and scanning will be available free of charge. 

Will computer access be filtered or non-filtered?  
At this time, all access will be filtered.
