You will be required to review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook and sign a volunteer waiver prior to placement. Some volunteer positions are sensitive in nature and/or involve working closely with at risk populations, and may require you to undergo a criminal history background check.

Main Library - Teen Volunteer

Youth Services - Teen Volunteers:  Youth Services is looking for teen volunteers, ages 14-18, to help with various clerical and organizational tasks assigned by Youth Services staff, assist in special programs and with the summer reading program. Apply now.

Library! at Hillcrest - Library Services Volunteer

Staff  Assistance Volunteers: The Library! at Hillcrest is looking for volunteers who will use the Dewey Decimal system to organize, straighten, and shelve books. Volunteers will also pull holds for other libraries. Apply now

English Conversation: Volunteers will spend time conversing with English language learners.  No teaching, just talking and helping them through sentence structure if needed. Apply now

In addition to Boise Public Library, a few other examples of City of Boise departments that might have open volunteer opportunities would be: Zoo Boise, Boise Police and Parks and Recreation. 

Be a Friends Volunteer

FriendsLogo.pngMembers of the Friends and other volunteers staff the Friends Bookstore at the Main Library, process materials for book sales, staff the annual spring and fall book sales, and help with other activities as needed.  Your gift of time helps the Friends raise funds to support opening-day collections in new branch libraries and many special programs and projects.
