Curbside Hold Pickup: Available at All Five Locations

How to take advantage of the Library curbside hold pickup:

  1. Place your hold online. You will receive a notification once your materials are available for pickup, and notification times will vary depending on availability. Please wait to receive the notification before heading to the Library.
  2. Drive up or walk up. If you are in a car, park in the designated spots near the curb of each library. If you are on foot, there are physically-distanced waiting spots marked at each library.
  3. Call the curbside number. The phone number is available in your hold notification and on signage outside of the library. Please have your library card ready when you call. A staff member in gloves and a mask will bring your materials in a bag directly to your car or waiting spot. 

Please note: The library buildings are currently closed to the public, except for computer access appointments at some locations. For curbside hold pickup, please stay in your car or in the designated walk-up spots so that staff can safely assist you.

Can I return my books now?

​Yes, book return drops ​are open at all locations. Please return items in the book return drops; do not give them to a staff member. Your items won't be checked in right away; items returned will quarantined for a minimum of three days for safe handling.

How long will it take for my hold to be ready for curbside pickup?
The time it takes for your hold to be ready can vary from item to item. We appreciate your patience as we work through a large quantity of curbside hold requests to get materials out to our community!

Are the Library buildings open during this time?

No. Building access is not available to the public. 

Can I walk up for curbside service instead of driving?

Yes, we have designated waiting spots ​near the curbside pickup spots at each library location. 

Can I drop donations off in the book drops?
Please hang on to your donations! Due to safety protocol, we cannot accept donations at this time on behalf of the Friends of the Library nonprofit. We encourage you to hang on to your donations so that they are not discarded.

I returned my book in the book drop a few days ago, but now I got an overdue notice. Why?
We are currently putting all materials into a 5+ day quarantine when they are returned to the Library. Thus, you will notice a delay in items being checked back in to the system once returned. However, this should not impact your ability to place new holds.

Can I ask a staff member to pick out extra materials for me?

No, at this time curbside pickup is only available for picking up holds. 

I really need to use a computer!

We have limited computer appointments available at the Main Library, the Library! at Cole & Ustick, and the Library! at Hillcrest. Please visit for more information and registration.
