Happy New Year!
Thank you to everyone who helped make 2023 a great year at the Boise Public Library! Boiseans love their Library and you show it every day through your usage of our locations, programs, and materials. We welcomed 642,770 people at our five locations, circulated more than 1.29 million books, answered nearly 100,000 requests for information, and saw 116,793 of you attend our 9,040 programs. We look forward to engaging with even more of you in 2024!
Last year the Idaho legislative session featured multiple bills aimed at changing how libraries select and circulate materials. Many of you shared with us your concerns about these bills and your deep appreciation for the Library’s commitment to providing materials which reflect the diverse community we serve. We also heard from many of you interest in learning how to be more involved in efforts to support the Library.
In response to your requests, I’m proud to share with you the Boise Public Library Advocacy Toolkit. This toolkit outlines resources to help you promote the importance and value of the Boise Public Library in our community. It includes information that makes it easy to connect with lawmakers to show your support for libraries. While most of this information is designed to promote public libraries in general, it also has information specific to the upcoming 2024 legislative session.
We are always interested in hearing from you about how the Boise Public Library can help achieve our vision of being the place everyone in Boise goes to grow. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at LibraryDirector@cityofboise.org.
Thank you for using and supporting the Boise Public Library.
