Federal Depository Collection

Explore the Federal Depository Library

FDLPlogo.jpgThe Federal Depository Library Program partners with libraries nationwide to provide the American public with free and equal access to government information. Boise Public Library began its participation in the program in 1929 and continues as the only public library in Idaho designated as a depository library. Our collection boasts over 20,000 print and electronic documents and serves the greater Treasure Valley.

The Federal Depository Library Program was established by Congress in 1895. The program is administered by the U.S. Government Publishing Office, which disseminates Federal Government information products to depository libraries located throughout the U.S. and its territories.

The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Basic Collection consists of official resources from the U.S. Government Publishing Office. Highlights include Ben's Guide (a fun website designed to encourage kids to learn about the Federal Government), GovInfo (a compilation of publications from all three U.S. Government branches), and USA.gov (a subject guide to official Federal Government information on the internet).

This government website provides information on a variety of topics, including consumer rights, home safety, and identity theft.
