City of Boise Seeks Multiple Board and Commission Candidates
March 30, 2026 12:30 PM
Boise — Boise residents interested in contributing to our community through public service can apply for one of several open positions. The City of Boise has several boards and commissions, which operate in an advisory capacity to the mayor and city council. Board members/commissioners are community members who serve in a volunteer capacity. Appointments to boards or commissions are made by the mayor, with the consent of the city council. Meetings are held monthly in a hybrid format allowing both virtual and in-person attendance unless otherwise noted.
“Board members and commissioners bring valuable resident insights to the decision-making process at City Hall,” said Mayor Lauren McLean. “It’s an engaging position that bridges community needs directly to the city’s departments, so that we may work hand in hand to best serve Boiseans as we create a city for everyone.”
The following committees and boards have open positions:
Arts & History Commission
The Arts & History Commission works in collaboration with city staff to review and approve Arts & History policies, projects, and programs. The commission ensures the integrity of the public process, makes recommendations to Boise’s Mayor and the Boise City Council, and promotes events and programs sponsored by the department. As required by Idaho law, the Board is a responsible, rather than advisory, body, providing leadership, guidance and accountability for the system. Trustees review and recommend policies, support long-range planning and ensure that library services and programs meet the educational, cultural and informational needs of the community. They also provide fiscal oversight; appoint and evaluate the Library Director; and help steward the continued growth, accessibility and innovation of library services. Public Works Commission
