Library Cards

Boise residents and those owning property within Boise City limits qualify for free Boise Public Library borrower cards. Your card gives you full access to all of our services for one year, and is renewable each year. You will be able to use your card at any Boise Public Library location and in most southwest Idaho public library systems. 

With your Boise Public Library Card You Can:

  • Borrow or download almost 600,000 titles from our collection of books, ebooks, emagazines, music, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, video games and more!
  • Check out laptops (for use in library), or Kidpacks, Robots, or Book Club Sets to take home.
  • Access over 100 digital applications and resources including the Idaho Statesmen, CreativeBug, and Mango.
  • Use our mobile printing system to print from your device and retrieve copies from any of our locations (black and white printing only).

How to Get a Library Card

  1. Apply Here or at any Boise Public Library location.
  2. To receive your library card, bring a photo ID and proof of your current address to any of our locations.
    If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to be present to approve your application and show photo identification and proof of current address.

Responsibilities

By signing your library card, you accept responsibility for all fines incurred and for lost or damaged materials borrowed with your card or on the card for your dependent children. Your library card is intended for your use only.

Other Types of Cards Available

If you don't live in Boise or don't meet other criteria for a library card, other options are available. Please call your neighborhood library or see our Policy Manual for information on non-resident, corporate/business, temporary or Internet-only library cards.
