Downtown Construction Updates

Construction projects continue in and around the Downtown Library! Learn more and plan ahead for a smooth visit.

Construction projects are underway to bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as to address some of the building's maintenance needs. These investments ensure the Library is accessible and inviting to all! Please follow all guidance or warnings on site to ensure everyone's safety.

The 2nd floor restrooms are currently closed for construction. There are temporary walls sealing off the area. Public restrooms can still be accessed on the 1st and 3rd floors during the closure.

Projects happening around the library are impacting road and parking access in surrounding areas.

Wassmuth Center for Human Rights Education Center. Construction has begun and will continue through spring of 2024. 8th Street will have limited vehicle and pedestrian access during the project so please be mindful of any detours. Learn more about the Wassmuth Center.

Ada County Highway District (ACHD) has several projects planned for Capitol Blvd. View one of their current concepts. Review additional updates on ACHD's website.

The Fulton Street improvements project will provide a variety of amenities and upgrades to benefit the downtown community. This project focuses on streetscape enhancements along the section between 9th Street and Capitol Boulevard, bringing about notable improvements to the area. During that time, parking will be limited and there may be detours when accessing the Library from that direction. Learn more about this project from CCDC Boise.

With construction projects happening both inside and outside of the Downtown Library, please make sure to plan your trip accordingly:

  • Leave extra time to find parking and navigate closed roadways.
  • Walk, bike, or use alternative transportation if possible.
